📍 November 16–26, 2024 | Algiers Exhibition Hall
The Algiers International Book Fair (SILA) is one of the most prominent cultural events in Africa and the Arab world—and the largest international fair in Algeria. Every year, it brings together millions of visitors, thousands of national and international publishers, and a vibrant cultural program featuring hundreds of renowned writers and influential literary figures.
Despite its growing influence, SILA had little to no structured literary content online. In an era where even the most niche information is easily accessible on the internet, this was a missed opportunity.
Therefore, we took on the challenge: Documenting the 27th edition of SILA and its cultural program while honouring the 70th anniversary of the Algerian independence war. This meant:
Streaming conferences and round tables, ensuring greater accessibility to discussions.
Telling the stories of authors and readers, capturing the essence of their encounters.
Sharing daily highlights, audience reactions, and the most memorable moments of each day.
As Director of Communication, I designed and executed the event’s digital and media strategy, working with a team of top-tier media and communication professionals to elevate SILA’s online presence. My mission included:
✅ Overseeing content production across multiple platforms.
✅ Managing digital campaigns and press relations.
✅ Ensuring extensive visibility for SILA across all media channels.
🚀 Expanded SILA’s Digital Footprint
Successfully launched and managed new social media accounts on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter), broadening our audience and engagement.
📈 Record-Breaking Engagement
Our digital campaign reached over 2.3 million users on Facebook alone—a 220% increase from the previous edition.
Engagement rates more than doubled, with 48,000+ interactions across platforms.
🎥 Content Strategy & Program Coordination
Created and published 750+ multimedia posts (videos, photos, live stories), ensuring real-time updates and extensive coverage of SILA’s cultural activities.
🌍 Global Benchmarking Against Top Book Fairs
SILA’s digital performance ranked 4th worldwide, just after Cairo, Sharjah, and Frankfurt Book Fairs, based on key engagement and reach metrics.
🎙 Launched the ‘SILA Podcast’ – A Game-Changer
Produced 15 episodes, including an exclusive interview with the Book Fair’s commissioner.
The podcast received widespread acclaim, expanding SILA’s audience through innovative storytelling.
🔗 A Sustainable Digital Strategy for Long-Term Impact
Established a structured content distribution plan for the SILA Podcast, ensuring continuous audience engagement with bi-weekly episode releases and repurposed content for social media.
Through strategic planning and innovative execution, the 27th edition of SILA achieved unprecedented digital success, reinforcing its status as a leading cultural event in the region. This edition was not just a book fair—it was a landmark moment in digital literary engagement.
